  • Christian Dior Monsieur designs from the 1980's are very

coveted these days. So much so that some of the chunkier

women's styles are currently being sold as 'Monsieurs'. We

kid you not. This pair is a men's pair, a real 'Monsieur' and

is marked as such. Like many of these ultra-expensive

frames of Dior's, it mixes metal with the optyl which they

had long been using, but to exhilarating effect. Imagine a

pair of Dior cufflinks as the kind of metal work that has

inspired them here. On the outside, the slim silver temples

are deeply reeded and have the oval CD logos in black and

gold embedded in each side. The silver contrasts wonderfully

with the translucent green tones of the optyl, which is in

shades of olive and khaki and that sheen changes to slightly

matt or frosted. The shape of fantastic rounded oblongs,

curves back to meet the arms and in the middle where it's

the palest colour, the deep bridge has been given a recessed

detail. We rarely see Dior's silver metal and optyl frames for

men. More often it's gold metal and some find that a little

garish. This frame is certainly not that and will look subtle

and very light on the face. Dare we say, classic.
