  • This Windsor frame does not bear a maker's mark and as

    it is a type made by many in the pre- and immediate post-

    war period, that makes it difficult to date. Hence we can

    broadly say 1930's-1950's. It is of fine quality and appears

    to have the original plastic rim covers, so clearly it was

    hardly worn. The gold, cylinder bridge is a generous size

    but these frames are small as the fashion then was to

    merely frame the eyes, not the face as we have done since

    the 70's. The temples have the ball ends that one might

    expect in a higher quality frame. These are presently

    fitted with clear (plano) coated lenses as we lent them

    briefly to a film production, but understand that they were

    only used in a wardrobe try-out. They are therefore

    performance-ready, or you could have them fitted with

    your own lens choice. Could be worn by men or women.
