Cahours de Virgile made frames for Lacoste
and indeed in 1981 patented a spectacle
they designed for them. The inventor was
Jacques Marly who is probably the son of Pierre
Marly, known as the couturier of eyewear.
We don't know if Jacques had a hand in the
design of Please but it certainly is a
classy item - contoured quadra shaped eye-
pieces in smokey pink translucent plastic
revealing gold crinkle-cut cores while 5-barrel
hinges makes for a silky smooth unfold.
