HCO was the Hadley Company, one of the
main suppliers for the Air Ministry through-
out WWII for servicemen and women. This
pair features in the WWII section of Mick J
Prodger's excellent,
Vintage Flying Helmets,
(still
available) -
check it out. And here it is,
in the
full kit. This is the Type C, single bridge
sunglasses that were issued from 1943.
Not sure if these saw any action as they
were issued for many years after the war.
Lenses are not that dark, 34% LTF and are
good, 97% uv protective at 380nm, fine for
any conditions, even at thirty thousand feet,
spotting Jerry.
