PG stands for Paul Green, a frame manufacturer from
Cumbria who sadly are long gone. They were a huge
company at the time when this frame was made, being
one of the largest makers of NHS frames as well as
their own line of prescription frames, like this one.
And they imported eyewear.
Here is a trade ad of theirs
from 1968 showing a working partnership with fashion
designer and Royal Warrant holder Norman Hartnell.
The Cumbrian was one of their best sellers as we have
had quite a few of them over the years. It is a heavy
frame with library sides joined using the 7-charnier
hinge in a 2:3 pin formation, front and sides. They made
them in many colours and styles, this a two-tone in black.
In excellent condition.
