  • This is the classic NHS shape from the 1960's. It was made

    in the London Mantor factory owned by Michael Wiseman who

    had been making NHS frames since their inception in 1948.

    This pair is unusual in that it is fitted with cable arms that

    wrap around the ear, so possibly to be used for workwear.

    Wiseman's metal factory was the Algha Works in Hackney Wick

    - still exists today under new ownership - and this is no doubt

    where the arms were manufactured. This NHS shape -

    called model 524 - underwent changes over the years

    but this is one of the earlier, rounder shapes, so probably

    mid-1960's. It is in great condition, so perhaps not much

    work done wearing them. Medium size, could fit men or
