  • Difficult to place this frame as it has no markings and is a

    classic style. We put it as early 1960's as this was the time

    that the fashion in frames was to have a clean front, with

    no shields or plaques cluttering up the look. As they hadn't

    yet mastered the art of burying the joint, the inevitable pins

    holding the joint were hidden around the side by way of a

    curved front. Many of our catalogues from 1962 show off

    this new style. What was also fashionable were these paddle

    arms with incised ends - American Optical offered this temple

    style from 1959. Indeed, the frame could hail from across

    the pond as the keyhole bridge was more popular over there.

    This is a hand-made frame, there are even unpolished areas

    showing the craftsman's work. Beautifully shaped and a true

    bespoke item - just hope it is your size.
