  • KÖLN OPTIK began in the early 1970s making high end

'hand finished' frames in the historic town of Cologne (Köln),

West Germany. They often exhibited at the major international

trade shows and their designs were soon distributed around the

world. By the early 1980s they were known for uber-expensive

buffalo horn and real shell frames - and this shape could date

from that time, but it may be earlier. It is a strong, angular

style which does nod to that period, when they were competing

with other German brands like Cazal, but it isn't on an 80's super-

size scale. It also has a low design number, so that may be

another indication it dates to the 1970s. The overall shape is

great, but just check out the "Tron"-like triangular 'keyhole'

bridge and the colour: a translucent fresh, forest green. The

condition is super - possibly never worn - so yes, even!
