info
Very old optical frame from American Optical - perhaps the
largest optical frame maker in the US in the 20th century -
this pair dates from the late 1940s. We know this due to the
shape and design and materials. A simple frame, panto shape
with high joints, mitred to meet the temples, pinned through
front and sides with a two pin arrangement. Broad key-hole
bridge allows for different bridge sizes so if you have one
of those noses that never seems to fit the standard rounded
bridge, then this pair could be for you.Back then marketing
and branding very understated, the frame is merely stamped
AO very small on the inside of the left temple. The inside
of the temple ends have been incised for grip. A quality
piece of optical history in excellent condition, hardly worn.
