info
In 1966 Wilhelm Anger's firm in Austria obtained the licence to
make eyewear for the Christian Dior brand which they secured from
Tura (USA). Apparently this had a lot to do with Anger's employee
- and main designer - at Viennaline, Udo Proksch, who was very
much a player and mover and shaker at the time. Marc Bohan was
Dior's creative director and perhaps was impressed by Proksch's
- aka Serge Kirschoffer's - eyewear designs. Anger had by then
patented his new plastic Optyl and most Dior frames and sun-
glasses were made in this innovative material. This frame dates
from 1977 as we can
see it in this ad from that year - bottom left.
Ours is the same linear fade but instead in a dark to lighter olive.
Raised silver metal CD logos adorn the outside of each temple.
A very cool and unusual shape, the frame is higher than it is wide.
