info
Oliver Goldsmith's Ritva looks to have been made in the late 1970s
and is a totally original design, with the sides incised on the back
making it appear like a pattern in glass. The frame is a clear crystal
tinged blue on the aforemntioned sides and given a doubl layer on
the front of a dove blue over white. The main photo above appears
to show the top layer being a dark navy, but that is merely a trick
of the light and the true colour can be seen in the profile photos
at the end. It is a large frame depicting the period and we're not
certain, but Ritva could refer to the brand Ritva named after Ritva
Ross, a London based fashion designer from the 60s and 70s whose
designs she created with her husband Mike Ross, can be found in
the V&A collections, alongside Goldsmith's. We're lucky to have
found this pair having never been worn, still containing the
original blank dummy lenses.
