"Paris creates the world's finest fashions....so does
Paris Eyewear"
- so said Sigmund Serney, CEO and chief designer of Paris Eyewear.
He started in Paris and went on to open offices in New York and
London. This pair looks very similar to one in
this 1966 catalogue,
but ours slightly different - perhaps from the following year. It is
a quadruple layer acetate which has been engraved in a feathered
style using the different coloured layers to great effect - like a
peacock's plumage. The main colour looks black but is actually
an intense dark brown, with lighter browns and a blue underneath.
Although only medium sized, it comes up wider - 138mm across the
top - due to the feathered sides. In as new condition, hardly worn.
