info A rare Cazal by design legend Cari Zalloni, this pair part of the iconic 800 series worn by celebrities at the time of production and since as vintage pairs. The 861 is made from a different material - propionate - which rather than based on cotton (cellulose zylonite or acetate) it stems from nylon which makes it lighter, glossier and more transparent: perfect for his frames from the late 80s in clear material. The glossiness shows on the layered brows in framented, geometric cream coloured shapes. This pair unusual as it mixes this with metal sides - 24k gold-plate monel with white enamel - again in geometric Z pattern. The lenses are screwed on the the face of the frame, covering the metal joints which bend around the front. A truly extraordinary and original design.
