other info
  • These 'aviator' or sports style sunglasses, probably best

known by the Ray-Ban design introduced in 1937 are now

becoming quite rare. This is a fantastic example in a white

metal, with a nice curved detail at the bridge that harks

back to pre-war styles and has those pads and temple tips

of the pearlised plastic variety that are indicators of quality

and age. This pair probably dates to the end of WWII, when

these sporting sunglasses with metal frames had been

popularised by the military, especially when worn by those

American flyboys 'over here'. The silver coloured frame is

in good condition and another period detail is how fine and

light it is - the unusual silver also making a nice contrast

with the green glass lenses. These lenses look hardly worn,

so all is rare jewel of an accessory from the 1940's. Very

wearable and being a medium size, could be worn by men

    or women.
