1960s gold-fill frame by METZLER (GERMANY) KlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewear KlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewear

Metzler (since 1830) are still going today and are

proud to boast how many millions frames they sell

around the world per year in how many countries...

Back in the 60s they were known for making quality

gold-fill frames like these purpose built sunglasses

which they usually fitted with Carl Zeiss sun lenses:

these are the Umbral 85s, the darker of their sherry

tinted lenses, each lens etched with the CZ logo

stamped on the arm). In the late 1960s when this

pair was made, high content gold-fill frames were

usually the preserve of optical frames so these

sunglasses would have been incredibly expensive,

especially considering they were fitted with these

Zeiss lenses. The lenses are okay - just a couple

of small marks out of vision but if you want them

replaced at any time in the future, we could have

them fitted with new Zeiss Umbrals which we keep

in the same 85% abs tint. This pair are quite large,

so check size before you buy.
