info Holiday was Art-Craft's range of sunglasses which were extremely high quality - competing with B&L and AO, the top manufacturers at the time. The link above shows the cover of one of their catalogues from around the time this pair was made. Art-Craft had already developed a method of burying the hinges into the arm so that no shields were visible and you can see from our pair that they went on to hide the shields on the front as well by wrapping the frame around. In the catalogue Art-Craft go on to describe their Melo-Ray tempered lenses as, "...impact resistant, distortion free...a neutral gray lens with excellent infrared and ultraviolet absorption...." This pair dates from the mid-1960s and is in a rich, dark tortoise in as new condition. — klasik |
