1950s Ray-Ban Outdoorsman by BAUSCH & LOMB (USA) KlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewear KlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewearKlasikVintageEyewear

We're not sure when the Outdoorsman first launched,

"....a favourite with active sportsmen..." - but the earliest

record we have of it is in this 1946 ad, alongside the

Shooter. This was when it was called the Skeet glass and

interestingly, they are saying, "It's back!" which refers

to all B&L's production being diverted for the war effort,

so it must have been previously made in the late 1930s.

Our pair looks to be from the 1950s or perhaps early 60s,

by which time it had been renamed the Outdoorsman.

It retains the earlier flesh-toned nose pads which is why

we date it from this period - see Ray-Ban's catalogue

from 1957
. We found it with prescription lenses so we

had them fitted with our new range of glass photochromic

lenses in brown. And as an added bonus, here is a photo

from the 1966 catalogue of a hunky male model wearing

the Outdoorsman. Enjoy!
