info
This is a shape for women's sunglasses that started in the
late 1940s and continued well into the 1950s, so it is difficult
to prescisely date these, but we're in the ballpark. It offers
some nice details: the upswept tops extending to shaped lugs;
the mid-tint lenses and best of all, the arms are pinched part
way down. The front is made from a solid acetate while the sides
are a crystal layer under black, offering a peek at the wire
cores which were obviously worth showing off back then. The
lenses give good uv protection, so all round pretty good for
mid-century continental eyewear.
