• When it came to the exquisitely decorated
  
  frames, the best always hailed from France.
  
  This pair from the early 1960's when wrapping
  
  the sides was fashionable, it has been carved
  
  with a bird and floral design which at first glance
  
  is easily missed, but the arms have a bird with
  
  diamanté tail feathers and there is another
  
  bird on the wrapped sides with the same tail
  
  but with a jewelled eye and breast. The carving
  
  - all done by hand - is very delicate and filled
  
  with a gold paint. Very glamorous and the mineral
  
  glass lenses are uv protective too. NB: very
  
  slight nick on top of frame on left side, just
  
  seen in big close-up, hence the lower rating
  
  to 'good'.
