info
Made by Optyl who also made many other
top brands under licence including Dunhill,
Carrera and Paloma Picasso, this pair is
late 1970's and is one of the earliest Diors
we've had to offer. Looks to be same period
as this Dior ad from 1977, where they talk
about the Optyl being in, "...frosted tones.".
This material lends itself to smooth, organic
shapes and sinuous slots and slices in frames.
Dior probably used Optyl to its best advantage
and the elevated CD logo on each arm adds
an appropriately subtle touch. And if you are
interested, we've written more about the devel-
opment of the optyl material and brand
here.
